Wessex Water and University of Bath Research Showcase

The Water Research Showcase event, organised by Ruth Barden, Environmental Solutions Director, Wessex Water, demonstrated the latest advances in wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), sensor development, and data-driven health surveillance. It was attended by several members of CWBE, including academic staff, post doctoral researchers and PhD students, who were on hand to talk about their research to Wessex Water staff. There were also displays by Wessex Water to explain the different projects being undertaken and provided information on catchment management, Smart Rivers and lots more.

The event was just a snapshot of the diverse research which we are delivering in partnership. It demonstrates the work we have done together such as addressing water quality challenges and emerging contaminants, including pharmaceutical pollution, plastics-related chemicals, antibiotics linked to antimicrobial resistance, and other hazardous substances affecting environmental and public health.

While we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, there’s still much to do, and we value the opportunity to explore future directions together.

Thanks to Aylene Clack, Environmental Solutions Business Support Coordinator, Wessex Water for helping to organise the event and for compiling a summary of the research which was on show at the event.
