As the UK Health Security Agency expands its wastewater surveillance network, Ed’s expertise on pathogen surveillance using wastewater was featured in the article. Ed highlights how CWBE is using the technology not only for testing dangerous pathogens, but also antibiotics and the spread of antimicrobial resistance genes in sewage and rivers. He also mentions how wastewater monitoring can be used at individual premises such as hospitals and airports to provide more detailed insights into particular community’s health.
