Dr Tolulope Lawrence

Department of Chemistry

I have a background in analytical and environmental chemistry, as well as pollution control. My expertise lies in wastewater fingerprinting and assessing the complex interactions of various pollutants and their effects on environmental health. I am currently working on the UK Freshwater Quality Programme QUANTUM project, which investigates the impact of veterinary antibiotics, fungicides, and endocrine disruptors from livestock farming on the quality of freshwater rivers across the UK. By examining the effects of these chemicals on aquatic ecosystems, I aim to provide insightful information to support improved farming practices and regulatory policies. Previously, I applied a wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) approach to track the consumption of pharmaceuticals and personal care products within a catchment area in Durban, South Africa.
