Monish Sundarrajan

Department of Chemistry

Monish Sundarrajan completed his master’s in chemistry at the Central University of Kerala in 2022 and his bachelor’s in chemistry from the University of Madras.

Before joining the University of Bath, he worked as a Mass Spectrometry Analyst at Aurigene Pharmaceutical Services Limited in Bangalore, India, where he gained extensive experience in chromatographic separation techniques and high-resolution mass spectrometry for the characterization of synthetic organic compounds. He also collaborated on a research project at Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan, focused on the biomonitoring of tire-derived contaminants, particularly 6-PPD and its transformation products, using advanced mass spectrometry techniques.

Monish’s current PhD research at the University of Bath focuses on wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) for community health assessment. His work aims to develop and optimize non-target and suspect screening workflows using high-resolution mass spectrometry to identify emerging biomarkers beyond targeted approaches.
