Joseph Beaney
Department of Chemistry
Joe graduated from the University of York in 2022 with a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. His research focused on the genetic engineering of extremophilic microorganisms for the bioremediation of harmful environmental contaminants. Following his studies, Joe worked as a synthetic biologist at a start-up company, developing engineered microbes for sustainable biofuel production.
Within CWBE, Joe’s research focuses on establishing an effect-directed analysis platform to better understand the exposure risks of complex chemical mixtures. He is also a Red-Alert CDT PhD student, working in collaboration with the University of Exeter.
